I remember the first time I heard this song, on the Stax box set, and thinking this is the perfect sample song: catchy, nice hook, wicked keyboard, sounds way ahead of it's time.. It didn't take long to realize that my thought wasn't that original. The Wu Tang Clan along with other artists have either sampled or covered this song. The original is still ridiculously good, but the reggae refixs has been doing it for the cognizant crew. The Skarra Mucci has been out for a while now, but the new Alborosie (thanks for turning me on to this one lukaduke) is another scorcher. My Mulatu Astatke obsession doesn't seem to be ending any time in the near future. To start the day off proper, well officially start, the day has been going on for a bit now, here is a clip of the man Mulatu with The Heliocentrics. As good today as it was back in the day.
