Mulatu vs Nas and Damian Marley

As I procrastinate from doing work, came across some interesting trivia. Not exactly straight up reggae news - but we like to keep it cognizant and universal in here.

Been getting into an artist by the name of Mulatu Astatke recently. Mulatu is credited as a pioneer in Ethiopian Jazz. Definitely recommend checking out his material. It's super interesting stuff and I am looking forward to building up my collection. The first time I heard his music - I instantly recognized it as the soundtrack from Broken Flowers, the Jim Jarmusch movie with Bill Murray. If you've seen this movie, you may recall the music that Bill Murray listens to as he drives around..

Like most people, I've been anticipating the release of the Damian Marley and Nas collaboration. I was excited to just discover that in their first release of their much anticipated album, they sample Mulatu. Check out both the songs right here:

None Shall Escape The Judgement - RIDDIM MIX

Just picked up a couple of 45s on the Johnny Clarke - None Shall Escape the Judgement - riddim. Here is a short riddim mix. Pretty excited to finally pick up a couple of tunes on this classic riddim I have been seeking out for a while. This riddim is one of the original "flying cymbal" tunes. Track list:

1) "This a the best version" - The Aggrovators
2) "Give a Helping Hand" - Owen Gray
3) "Gun Court Law" - Cornell Campbell
4) "Zion Gate Open" - Jacob Miller
5) "None Shall Escape the Judgement" - Johnny Clarke
