Get Cognizant 2k8 !

Get Cognizant 2k8... as my life brought me and Cassi back to Portland and  Cognizant Sound started to heat up again with some wicked dances at the Empire, White Heart and some other hot spots throughout New England.

A 2008 flyer....

Get Cognizant 2k7 !

About 2007 I decided to start highlighting some of the big tunes put out that year...as a result we have Get Cognizant 2k7!

and a flyer from 2007...

Nice Up the Season...

Thing called " Nice Up the Season" !  I made this mix for my travels home for the holidays back in 2007.  It has alot of classic riddims linked to Horace Sleepy Andy as well as some other standards; Soloman, Lecturers, Shank I Shek... you get the idea ! Cant find the cover to this but a classic Cognizant logo will do the trick.

Don't Throw it all Away...

This one is hot !  Thing called don't throw away all the old classic riddims of the 80's and 90's. After swimming in the sea of new music in the early to mid 2000's, so I decided to bring back the old time tunes in a classic reggae mix.  Pure fyah from beginning to end... it got me alot of respect from some other local deejays as well other soundsystems from abroad. Im still amazed that this mix is straight vinyl mixed in real time with only an ipod to use as a sampler.  This mix was made in the Gorham days when I had just met Cassi and it seemed we were stranded in the middle of no where with nothing but records to keep me company while Cassi was at work, this is the result !  Enjoy

here is a flyer from that era

From the Roots Up !

This one goes back to around 2004/2005 .... it starts off with some serious roots and foundation and moves through some 80's classic dancehall and eases into some of the big current riddims and tunes of the time....highlights include the Pretty Looks and Boops Riddim, Ganja Farmer, Stop that Train Riddim.  Its an oldie that I had forgotten about till an old acquaintance dropped me the link a year or two back ! It brings me back to the Alehouse days when I held down a weekly spot....

Tribute to Studio One !

The First mixtape Lukaduke ever released as part of the Cognizant Sound Family.  It was 2004, a year or so after Geofferson had moved away to Philadelphia and Lukaduke was still holding it down every Tuesday at the Free St. Taverna ! Pure Studio One niceness... all one take with sound effects drawn from a dvd player hooked up through the mixer... sometimes I miss the old school laboratory over on Powsland St.

the original flyer
this thing was before photoshop... straight up cut and paste punk style... the lettering is cut from vinyl sign material and handpainted...Still got the original somewhere around the house !
